1. User Bar: Your Personal Dashboard

Located at the top of the screen, the User Bar gives you quick access to essential user features:

  • Messages Icon: Tap to view messages from other hyperPad users. Interact with the community by replying to messages or joining discussions.
  • User Avatar: A default avatar is assigned to you, but you can customize it in the User Settings. Tapping your avatar displays notifications for:
    • hyperPad announcements
    • Replies to your comments
    • Mentions from other users
    • New followers
    • Likes on your shared projects
  • hyperPad Menu: Access a variety of settings and options, including your User Profile, where others can view your shared projects and interactions.
  • Gear Icon: Open User Settings to personalize your profile with a custom banner and avatar, manage notifications, change your password, and more.

2. Navigation Bar: Seamless Access to Features

The Navigation Bar at the bottom of the screen is your gateway to hyperPad’s core features:

  • Hub: Stay updated with the latest hyperPad announcements, including release notes and app updates. Check back often to learn what’s new in iPad game dev.
  • Projects: The default tab where all your past and current projects are displayed.
    • Create a new project or view locally stored ones.
    • Project thumbnails are auto-generated from your last save or the first Hub screenshot if shared publicly.
  • Forum: You can connect with the vibrant hyperPad community!
    • Explore what others are creating.
    • Branch open-source projects for inspiration or collaboration.
    • Comment, follow, and socialize with fellow game developers.
  • Help: Access tutorials, sample projects, and the hyperPad manual.
    • You can even request 1-on-1 support here!
    • Keep checking for updates as hyperPad continuously improves its learning resources.

By tapping the Messages icon, you can see any messages received from other hyperPad users. You can tap any message in the list to go to that conversation.

Next you will see your User Avatar. A default avatar is generated for you, or you can set a custom Avatar in the User Settings. By tapping your avatar a list of all recent notifications appears. You will receive a notification for: hyperPad announcements, replies to your comments, when someone mentions you, when you receive a new follower, when you receive a like for a project you shared to the Hub.

Finally there is the hyperPad Menu. Tap the menu icon (3 dashes) to open the hyperPad menu, where you can access various settings and options.

The gear icon in the top right corner takes you to the User Settings. From the user settings you can personalize your profile by adding a custom banner, and avatar.  You can also change you're password, and manage notifications.

Tapping your avatar in the hyperPad Menu will take you to your User Profile. The User Profile is what other hyperPad users see when they tap your username to view your profile. Everything you see here is publicly visible.

3. Content Section: The Heart of Your Work

The central section of the Home Screen displays relevant content based on the selected tab. Whether you’re managing projects, browsing the Hub, or learning new skills, this area adapts to provide the tools and information you need.

Hub: The hyperPad Hub where you can view what other hyperPad users are working on, branch open source projects. It's an active community where you can comment, follow, and socialize with other hyperPad users.

Navigation Bar: The Navigation Bar along the bottom is how you access the different parts of hyperPad.

Projects: By default, the first screen you see is the "Projects" tab. From here you can create a new project, or see all the past and current projects you have created that are stored locally on the iPad. The images for each project are automatically generated from your last save in the editor. However, if you have shared the project to the hyperPad Hub, the first screenshot selected for the Hub will appear instead.
