PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Share this project:

An endless runner with a cute sea theme, by Sleepy Turtledove Gaming.

In *Star Glide* you guide a little echinoderm (e.g., sea star, urchin, sandollar, etc.) through dangerous underwater hazards, collecting seashells and gaining power-ups throughout the twisty ocean floor. Tap the left or right sides of the screen to control your Star, avoiding obstacles like Saws, Sea Bombs, and Spikes so you don’t take damage.

You have three lives per game, and when you lose all three lives, the game ends. Each obstacle takes a different amount of lives—so some are more dangerous than others. Seashells spawn near obstacles, and collecting eight in a row gives you a Combo with a special power (shield, magnet, shooter, an extra life, etc.). You can spend your Shell Coins in the casino machines to win cool prizes! Can you beat your high score? Find out now!

Disclaimers:
- This game took seven days to make, so if some aspects feel rushed or offbeat, that’s why.
- All sound effects, graphics, and music were made by me. Please do not take any of these assets without my permission.
- The fonts are free, however, and I do not own them.
- Currently ‘Skins’ button does not have a backend, so it does not work. ‘Plinko’ and ‘Prizes’ do work.
Bugs:
- The Plinko game is supposed to give out new skins, but this feature has not been added yet, so it only gives out coins. Still, by all means, feel free to try it.
- Sometimes obstacles will spawn inside platforms, making you take damage from seemingly nothing.
- The Save to File mechanic might corrupt sometimes, making you lose your coins. Thankfully, no other progress will be lost, because I haven’t added skins yet.
- As of now, you can use the arrows on the Title Screen to switch between a Pink Star, an Orange Star, and a Blue Star. However, when I update the game to have skins, you will have to buy this color instead. The bug is that you aren’t supposed to have them for free.

Please let me know what I should add! I’ve got big plans for this game if I can remember the code :)
Also if you find anymore bugs, please point them out to me so I can squash them.
This game is available for both iPads AND iPhones, so download the Hub on your phone and try it out! The aspect ratio works on all mobile devices.

Happy Gliding!

Really fun!

Love the way the star rolls across the barriers and that there’s a little bit of float instead of snapping wall to wall. That little bit of leeway feels really good. Good call having multiple song so the repeats after dying aren’t annoying. Few constructive things: I’d give a few short but progressively more difficult levels at the beginning so we can get some satisfaction from learning instead of dying over and over until we get the flow. It’d be cool if that brief window where you can change directions midair was a little bit wider. Not so much to ruin the game but enough to catch yourself if you realize the mistake you made immediately. Saves are fun… Loose suggestion but maybe think of a narrative with enemies instead of spikes and saw blades. Might want to stick the player to the wall at the beginning. If you don’t press anything you can drift for a long time without hitting anything 😅 Genuinely a lot of fun. Subscribed to see what you do next 😁

Thanks so much for playing and for the awesome feedback! I’m really glad you enjoyed the movement and the little bit of float—it was something I worked on to make it feel smooth and fun, so it’s great to hear that stood out. I totally agree about adding some narrative and swapping the spikes and saw blades for proper enemies on certain areas; that’s definitely in the works (jellyfish, crabs, etc.). I hadn’t thought about starting the player anchored to a wall or adding some intro levels to ease into the gameplay, but those are great ideas, and I’ll be looking into them for sure. I’m also going to tweak the midair direction-change window a bit—it’s such a good call to make those split-second saves more satisfying. Thanks again for playing and for the thoughtful suggestions—it really means a lot!
